When it comes to fashion there's a lot of ways it can impact our mental well-being; positive and negative impacts. As we all know by now the media can affect us mentally, even to the point where we start to take physical action. But there are also many ways it can positively influence us. Here are 4 ways fashion in the media positively affects our mental health.
1; A WAY TO EXPRESS YOURSELF
It is one of the best ways to express who you are. Fashion gives you an opportunity to bring who you are on the inside to the surface and show it to the world. When a person can freely be who they want to and are accepted as that person it gives them a boost of serotonin, which is a hormone that helps regulate your mood making you feel more: focused, emotionally stable, calmer and happier. That boost of serotonin enhances our well-being and gives us an all-round natural glow which gives off other people which also causes them to do be happier.
2; AN OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE A CAREER
There are so many job opportunities within the fashion industry. For example, a fashion illustrator, a stylist and a fashion designer. These give you an opportunity to be creative and unique in your work. However, there are also some managing type jobs you can have in the industry like: pr manager (public relations manager), merchandise manager, account executive and more.
3; A CHANCE TO EXPLORE YOUR PERSONALITY
With the fashion trends forever changing and new ones being made or brought back, fashion is a great way to explore different parts of your personality. Through fashion many people have found themselves being more confident in who they are not only on the outside but on the inside too. Leading to them feeling accepted enough to bring their hidden personality traits to the surface and be happy within themselves.
4; MAKING NEW CONNECTIONS
When it comes to anything that allows you to be creative and unique, there's always ‘style types’ that are included in that industry. For example, in fashion there are ways to style your clothes which create an aesthetic. Some of the post popular styles right now with these new styles comes different communities where you can meet and connect with other people who will most likely have the same interest as you and something you like wearing or your favourite piece of clothing can strike an engaging conversation.
